License-free order transmission to LYNX / IBKR
WheelTrading is an analysis and preparation tool. We do not transmit order data to your broker and we do not offer any one-click bulk hand-off of an order. Instead we show you the finished order values field by field. You copy each value one field at a time, enter it yourself into your broker's order ticket (LYNX+ Web, LYNX+ App, IBKR Mobile or TWS) and submit the order there yourself.
This is not investment advice and not investment brokerage in the sense of German KWG / WpHG (see T&C § 2a, § 3). The upside for you:
- WheelTrading never transmits order data to LYNX / IBKR — you keep
full control.
- You enter the values into the broker ticket yourself and review the
order there once more before you submit it.
- WheelTrading stays cost-neutral relative to your broker fees.
The only route: copy the values field by field
There is exactly one transmission route: you transfer the order values field by field yourself. In the send dialog WheelTrading opens an order window (a slim popup on desktop, inline at the bottom of the dialog on mobile) that displays the order values and offers a copy button next to every field. WheelTrading never talks to LYNX / IBKR in the process.
There is deliberately no "copy all values" button and no bulk hand-off — you copy value by value and enter each one into the broker ticket yourself.
The order values at a glance
The order window shows these fields, each with its own copy button:
- Symbol — the underlying (e.g.
SPY). - Action —
Sell(collect premium) orBuy(buy-to-close),
plus option type Put or Call.
- Strike / exercise price — the contract's strike price.
- Expiry — the expiry date.
- Quantity — number of contracts.
- Limit — your limit price.
- Time in force (TIF) —
GTCorGTDuntil date (see below).
Step by step
- Open the proposal under Trades → To send and click **Prepare
order**. WheelTrading opens the order window with the values.
- Open your broker — LYNX+ Web, LYNX+ App, IBKR Mobile or TWS —
and search for the symbol. For the browser login use a second LYNX user, see the help topic "Set up a second LYNX user for manual trading".
- Open the Options tab and pick the expiry date.
- Pick the strike (LYNX+ calls it "Ausuebungspreis", see below).
If the strike is not in the list, show it via "Strikepreis hinzufügen" (add strike price).
- Pick the option type (Put/Call) and action (Sell/Buy),
then enter quantity, limit and time in force — one field at a time via the copy button in the WT window.
- Review the order in the broker ticket and **submit it
yourself**; you confirm 2FA in the broker (see below).
- Back in WheelTrading, tick the confirmation at the bottom and
click Mark as submitted in LYNX+ so WT can match the proposal to the broker trade.
Important: do not click the red VERKAUFEN (Sell) button directly! In LYNX+ you first land on the underlying's product page. The red VERKAUFEN button in the top right would trigger a share order — that is not the options order from your WT proposal. First switch to the Optionen (Options) tab, pick the expiry + strike + Put/Call, and only click VERKAUFEN inside the options ticket.
Important about time in force (the "TIF" field)
WheelTrading server-side auto-cancels unfilled orders after 3 trading days (safety net against forgotten orders). To avoid needing to remember that, we recommend entering GTD (Good-Til-Date) with date = today + 3 trading days and time 22:00 directly in your broker (that corresponds to ~16:00 ET, US options close). LYNX lets the order expire on its own and WT doesn't need to cancel. The server-side cancel remains as an extra safety net but won't fire in that case.
Important about the strike (exercise price) in LYNX+
LYNX+ calls the strike "Ausuebungspreis" in the order ticket dialog. The order window therefore labels the strike with the hint "LYNX: Ausuebungspreis" — same value.
Strike not in the list? LYNX+ initially shows only strikes close to the current share price (ATM ± a few points) in the options chain. If your WT proposal is well OTM (e.g. a short put ~10% below spot), the strike is hidden from the default view. Add it via the "Strikepreis hinzufügen" dropdown (top-left in the Options tab, below "Börsen / Trading-Klasse"). Once added, the row with your strike (incl. bid/ask) shows up in the Puts or Calls column and becomes clickable.
Rolls and multi-leg
For a roll (roll_put or roll_call) you enter the two legs (buy-to-close + sell-to-open) separately into your broker app — field by field, just like a single-leg option. The order window shows you the values for both legs one after the other.
2FA / submission confirmation
The actual 2FA confirmation happens in the broker ticket, not in WheelTrading. LYNX shows (depending on account configuration) a confirm prompt on your phone — you tap. WheelTrading sees nothing and needs to see nothing.
Why no server-side send and no one-click hand-off?
Once a German provider forwards order data to a broker server-side — even as an "inactive draft" — BaFin views this as investment brokerage (§ 1 (1a) sentence 2 no. 1 KWG). Without a BaFin licence or a licensed umbrella (Haftungsdach) this is not permitted. A one-click bulk hand-off of an order is excluded for the same reason. The field-by-field copy-paste route avoids the entire construct: WheelTrading transmits nothing to LYNX / IBKR, you do it yourself.
On mobile
On mobile WheelTrading shows the order values inline at the bottom of the send dialog — the same fields as on desktop, each with a copy button:
- Symbol, action (Sell/Buy Put or Call), strike, expiry, quantity,
limit, time in force (GTC / GTD until date).
Steps on mobile:
- Review the order in WheelTrading and confirm the warnings.
- Open the LYNX+ app / IBKR Mobile and search for the symbol.
- Open the Options tab and pick the expiry date shown.
- Pick the strike and the option type (Put/Call).
- Choose action Sell (or Buy if the ticket says so), then
enter quantity + limit + time in force — one field at a time via the copy button.
- Review the order in the broker app and submit it.
- Return to WheelTrading, tick the confirmation and tap **Mark as
submitted in LYNX+**.
The click does not trigger a server-side send — it just marks the proposal as manually submitted.
iPhone / iPad: WheelTrading as a Home Screen app + LYNX+
If you added WheelTrading to your Home Screen via Safari's "Add to Home Screen" (the green WT icon on your home screen), the app runs in standalone mode — no address bar, no tab bar. This is convenient for daily use but comes with a known iOS limitation: taps on external links (e.g. Open LYNX+) load in the same window and replace the WheelTrading view instead of opening a second Safari tab. That is why the mobile dialog shows the order values inline below.
How to still switch cleanly between LYNX+ and WheelTrading:
- Tap Open LYNX+ in Safari — the LYNX+ login first appears
inside the WT window.
- In LYNX+, tap the small **compass icon (Safari symbol) in the
lower-right** of the screen. iOS then opens the LYNX+ page in a separate Safari window.
- Enter the order in LYNX+ (transfer the values from the WT dialog
field by field via the copy buttons), submit + 2FA.
- Return to WheelTrading via the **WheelTrading icon on your Home
Screen — the send dialog is still open. Important: tick the confirmation checkbox and tap Mark as submitted in LYNX+.* Without this last step the proposal stays in Draft and WheelTrading cannot match the broker order to your proposal during the next sync — the order will still appear in your LYNX account, but not in Trades → Open*, and auto-close / auto-roll linking will not work. Only after the confirmation the adoption service matches the broker order by symbol + strike + expiry + quantity and attaches the IBKR order ID to your proposal.
This is more awkward than on desktop and is purely due to the iOS standalone limitation, not a BaFin requirement. To avoid the workaround, open WheelTrading on the phone directly in Safari (instead of via the Home Screen icon) — tab switching then works as on desktop.
What happens after confirming?
- The proposal appears in Trades → Open marked *manual
transmission*.
- WheelTrading later reconciles fills and assignments via the IBKR
FlexQuery account statements. Until then you track the outcome in your broker session yourself.
- You can remove the proposal via Discard at any time if you did
not actually submit it.
No investment advice
WheelTrading shows key figures and sample prices for options contracts. We do not make individual recommendations, and the transmission to the broker is entirely your responsibility. You bear all losses (T&C § 6).
Full broker access in detail
A table of every writing IBKR/Lynx call that WheelTrading makes against your broker – including the 3-day auto-cancel, manual cancel, limit changes and the server-send path that is blocked for end users for BaFin reasons – is available under Order lifetime → Full scope of our writing broker access.
