Options screening
The options screener filters an option chain per symbol (puts or calls) and ranks by annualized premium. The result is the candidates by metric, from which you can derive a proposal.
Workflow
- Pick a symbol – via the Companies tab or your watchlist. Navigate to
/research/chain/{SYMBOL} to open the chain.
- Pick an expiry – the list comes from the provider (Yahoo preferred,
in-memory as fallback).
- PUT or CALL – toggled at the top.
- Apply filters – DTE range, delta range, minimum open interest.
- Candidates – the engine returns the three strikes with the highest metric (see "Metric evaluation &
risk flags" help topic).
Filters in detail
| Filter | Meaning | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| DTE min/max | Days to expiry; default 7–60 for the classic wheel cycle | ||
| \ | Δ\ | min/max | Absolute delta; 0.20–0.35 is typical for wheel puts |
| Min OI | Open interest lower bound, avoids illiquid strikes | ||
| Min Volume | Optional daily volume | ||
| Moneyness % | Max relative distance strike ↔ underlying (e. g. 0.10) |
Premium % p.a.
Premium is annualized:
annual_pct = (mid / strike) * (365 / dte) * 100This way you can compare strikes with different maturities fairly.
Provider caching
The backend service caches option chains for 60 seconds (thread-safe TTL). Multiple user requests for the same symbol/expiry trigger only one provider call.
Plan gating
- Reading (expiries, chain, evaluations) is free for any signed-in user.
- Creating / sending proposals is unlocked in all three paid tiers
(Wheel Starter, Master, Premium).
Next step
From a selected strike you create a proposal. See "Proposals & lifecycle".
