Unassigned LYNX trades
When a trade arrives at LYNX that WheelTrading cannot uniquely map to one of your open proposals, it shows up on Trades › Open in a yellow panel at the top titled "Unassigned LYNX trades".
When does this panel appear?
Whenever you submitted a trade in LYNX+ or TWS that differs from your original WheelTrading proposal, for example:
- You picked a different strike than the one proposed.
- You picked a different expiry.
- You entered a different contract count.
- You entered a different limit price.
For every such divergence, WheelTrading first creates a new entry and flags it as "awaiting assignment", so your overview stays clean.
How do you assign the trade?
- Open Trades › Open.
- The yellow panel at the top shows the LYNX trade with symbol,
right, strike, expiry, quantity, and limit.
- Use the selector to pick the WheelTrading proposal the LYNX trade
belongs to. The list only shows open proposals for the same underlying and the same right (Put/Call).
- The table below shows your WheelTrading values and the LYNX values
side by side. Diverging fields are highlighted in amber.
- Click Assign to this proposal. The proposal adopts the LYNX
values (strike, expiry, quantity, limit) and the broker order ID. The originally adopted entry is discarded and linked to the target proposal so the audit trail stays intact.
What if no matching proposal is found?
If WheelTrading shows "No matching open proposal found", the trade remains a standalone position. You can manage it in the Active tab (take-profit, roll, close) like any other trade.
What WheelTrading does NOT do
- No order to LYNX: WheelTrading only copies the LYNX values into
your proposal. No order is submitted, cancelled, or modified. LYNX remains the source of truth.
- No automatic assignment: Assignment happens only on your
explicit click. WheelTrading never guesses.
- No investment advice: This is pure data hygiene. Whether the
diverging trade was a good decision is entirely your call.
What about the tax ledger?
For wheel-ledger analytics and the tax import, your next-day FlexQuery remains the source of truth. The manual assignment only corrects the live view in the app so your overview stays consistent.
The original values of your WheelTrading proposal (strike, expiry, quantity, limit) are captured in an audit field before the merge, so it stays traceable which plan you started with.
FAQ
Can I undo an assignment?
Not with a single click. If you assigned by mistake, please contact support. The original snapshot is stored in the database.
Why do I see a trade twice?
You shouldn't. The Open tab hides rows flagged "awaiting assignment" automatically. If a duplicate still appears, refresh the page.
What if I submitted a Put instead of a Call (or vice versa)?
That would almost always be a data-entry mistake. In that case WheelTrading does not offer an assignment; the LYNX trade stays as a standalone position. Handle it consciously via the Active tab.
