IBKR notifications (FYI)
There is a bell in the header bar. WheelTrading.io collects all IBKR FYI messages there – e.g. notices about options about to expire, shortened trading days, margin changes, dividend or corporate-action notices.
These are the same messages you usually see in Lynx or Client Portal / TWS. Clicking "Acknowledge" here also acknowledges the message directly with IBKR - it will then disappear in your Lynx app as well.
The header bell
- Red number: count of unread messages.
- Click: opens the list of latest messages.
- Refresh icon: forces an immediate sync with IBKR.
- Green check per item: acknowledges that message.
A background sync runs every 5 minutes, and the badge refreshes every minute in the frontend.
Works even when IBKR is offline
So you don't lose anything, all messages are cached in the WheelTrading database.
- If the IBKR gateway is currently not logged in (e.g. session
timeout, IBKR maintenance window, lost 2FA session), you still see your last cached messages with a yellow note "IBKR gateway offline".
- Acknowledging a message while offline marks it as done in the app
and shows the status "will be pushed to IBKR on next sync".
- Once the gateway is authenticated again (manually via the account
status or automatically on the next login), the sync will push the pending acknowledgement to IBKR. Only then does the message disappear from the list for good.
Requirements
- A set-up IBKR account with an active platform connection
(see Getting started).
- FYI notifications must be active on the IBKR side. By default the
most important types (expiration, margin, corporate actions, bulletins) are enabled on every IBKR account. You can change them under Client Portal → Account Settings → FYI Notifications.
Data privacy
We only store the fields IBKR delivers (id, code, title, body, timestamp, read status). The data is per-user isolated and stored in our database alongside your encrypted account information.
