Data backups
WheelTrading automatically backs up your data every day. If anything goes wrong (server crash, accidental deletion, hardware failure) we can restore the previous state.
What is backed up?
- Database — account data, filter settings, positions, trades,
dividends, audit log, proposals and snapshots.
- Server configuration —
.env, docker-compose file and nginx
configuration (without caches and certificates).
Not backed up: market-data caches and temporary files — they are rebuilt automatically.
How safe is it?

| Storage | Microsoft OneDrive for Business (Microsoft 365 Business Basic, EU tenant). Data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR including EU SCCs. |
Even Microsoft cannot read the backup contents without the private GPG key.
Retention
- On the server: 14 days, then auto-deleted.
- In the cloud: long-term, manually managed.
What does this mean for you?
- You don't need to do anything — the backup runs automatically.
- As of today, the backups contain **no personal data of third
parties**, because only the provider himself actively uses the platform. As soon as additional users register, the Microsoft data processing agreement automatically also covers their data.
